Fastback Networks Elevate LTE Backhaul Performance With 800 Mbps Wireless Transport Solution
San Jose, California — September 8, 2014 — Fastback® Networks today announced higher speed backhaul capability, raising the performance bar for LTE backhaul devices. Fastback’s Intelligent Backhaul Radio™ (IBR), the only wireless backhaul solution meeting all the requirements of LTE cellular, now delivers throughput of over 800 Mbps while sustaining its industry leading low latency across all radio conditions from Line of Sight (LOS) to the most challenging Non Line of Sight (NLOS) scenarios. The new IBR capabilities will be showcased at Super Mobility Week, Mobile Backhaul Pavilion, Fastback Booth #4155, September 9 – 11, in Las Vegas, NV.
The IBR is the only wireless backhaul solution that meets all the stringent eNodeB LTE basestation requirements, while enabling acceleration of LTE deployments in locations where fiber is too expensive or too slow to deploy. The IBR’s latest speed of over 800 Mbps at up to 2 km range builds on its existing best in class capabilities. These include the industry’s lowest latency (0.5 ms), and reliable Any Line of Sight (AnyLOS™) operation providing simultaneous support of NLOS, nLOS and LOS conditions in a single device. Applications include Macrocell LTE upgrade (from 3G), Macrocell LTE fill-in, and indoor or outdoor LTE and LTE-A small cell backhaul that requires reliable operations in NLOS conditions combined with high speeds and low latency.
“The Fastback IBR is now deployed by multiple US carriers, reliably carrying LTE traffic in NLOS and other conditions previously considered untenable,” said Kevin Duffy, CEO & Co-founder, Fastback Networks. “As carriers evolve their networks with more sectorization, Voice-Over-LTE (VoLTE), and LTE-Advanced, backhaul speed must continue to increase. The new higher performance IBR is an enabling element in operators’ ever growing march to deliver LTE everywhere.”
Redefining Backhaul to Meet the Needs of LTE
The IBR is purpose-built to meet all the requirements of LTE networks, where high performance backhaul to millions of upgraded cell sites, and tens of millions of new sites, is critical to success. The unprecedented performance features of the IBR are geared to enabling these increasingly dense user environments. Fastback’s patented interference mitigation technology, Extreme Interference Protection (XIP™) is key to sustained performance in the ever increasingly noisy radio environments caused by Wi-Fi, blutooth, cordless phones, and the emerging Internet of Things.
Freedom of Location
Equally critical is the IBR’s ability to deliver the highest throughput and lowest latency across Any Line of Sight, from LOS to complete NLOS. This enables mobile service infrastructure to be placed where needed for maximum spectral efficiency and customer demand – on towers or poles, or inside or outside of structures – with a reliable backhaul link to locations that have been previously unreachable.
Site Simplicity, Ease of Installation & Maintenance
A typical IBR installation site contains far fewer managed elements, a result of the unique integration of radio and switch hardware and software within the IBR system. Incorporating the functions of a carrier class, high performance radio, Carrier Ethernet switch, 1588v2 timing, UNI-Demarc, NID and SLA-OAM, CFM and PM capabilities, the IBR requires dramatically less space, power and minimized points of failure. Featuring power over Ethernet, auto alignment and rapid synchronization, the IBR can be mounted, configured and in-service anywhere by non-skilled labor in less than 15 minutes. The IBR’s patented technology eliminates the need for recurring alignment.
Availability
The Fastback IBR configurable to over 800 Mbps will be generally available in Q4, 2014.
