New Fastback Liberator Radios Advance Carrier Class Millimeter Wave Solutions for Large Scale Urban Deployment

San Jose, California — February 16, 2016  — Fastback Networks® today announced the Liberator V1000 and E1000e high capacity dual port radios. Advances in carrier class features from multiple port options to longer range, enhanced timing features and refined form factor, all serve to expand the Liberator family benefits of best value gigabit connectivity to wider application in large scale deployments. The new Liberator product family is built for the maximum flexibility and minimum complexity required for high capacity urban operation, and is part of the all new Fastback Networks product line-up of sub6 GHz, 60 GHz, and 70-80 GHz backhaul radios. These licensed and unlicensed complementary solutions extend the reach of high performance Carrier Ethernet and are universally easy and economical to install, deploy, maintain and scale.

The Liberator V1000 dual port builds on the most widely deployed V band radio worldwide with more functionality and flexibility, and sustaining high capacity. With a compact form-factor for city deployment on street furniture, the V1000 dual port offers more channels and longer range, plus a robust polycarbonate antenna radome tolerant of extreme weather conditions.  The dual ports provide the flexibility of either GigE Copper or fiber SFP, allowing daisy-chaining of a copper or fiber hop. The radio fully supports SyncE and IEEE 1588v2 timing. Easy to deploy, this cost-effective, wireless Ethernet point-to-point bridge operates in the 60 GHz millimeter wave V band, delivering full-duplex capacity of up to 1 Gbit/s over distances of up to 800 meters.  With all the benefits of the V1000 dual port, the longer-range Liberator E1000e dual port operates in the 70/80 GHz millimeter wave E band, delivering full duplex capacity of up to 1 Gbit/s over distances of up to 4 km.

“To solve the data network capacity challenges, outdoor small cell deployments require reliable flexible backhaul that is easy to deploy in urban locations,” said Kevin Duffy, CEO & Co-founder, Fastback Networks. “Innovations in the Liberator product family enhance millimeter wave urban backhaul functionality, delivering the highest quality operational features required to scale densification of the mobile network.”

The dual port Liberator V1000 and E1000e combine full-duplex carrier class performance and advanced features such as adaptive modulation, multi-channel operation, low latency, and software-activated flexible link throughput, coupled with AES 256 bit encryption to offer an ideal solution for network extension, backhaul and other connectivity applications.

Both products benefit from an easy regulatory environment in most markets.  The V1000 dual port operates in the license-free 60 GHz band while the 70/80 GHz band used by the E1000e dual port remains lightly regulated. Restart time is less than 20 seconds from power on to full data transmission. Simple and predictable planning is enabled using an enhanced release of the Liberator Predict Link Availability Calculator. Both units use Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD), meaning that the full capacity of the radio is available in both directions simultaneously, rather than being shared.

The V1000 and E1000e dual port radios will be available in Q’1 2016 in FCC and ETSI regulatory markets.
